Take Heart

The Bible verse that inspired the name for my business became a mantra for me in 2008 when my own mom was diagnosed with cancer right as I began nursing school. The verse is John 16:33-“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." I went onto become an oncology nurse and spent many years working in Oncology Research. My mom is in her second journey now with metastatic breast cancer since 2020. God has been so good in blessing her with life and quality of life beyond the doctors' expectations. She has said to me that she has told herself "I am a child of God and he is the only one who knows the number of days I have left." She is the most amazing, strong, Christ-filled, joyful person I have ever been blessed to know. All of this to say, Jesus gives peace in a world of trouble, and I love photographing these peaceful and joyous moments on earth. Not to say the rest of our life might not be tumultuous, but we can always find God working through the turmoil.

With my own experiences working in oncology and having multiple family members journey through it, I have a special tug on my heart to serve this population whether in healthcare or in my current work as a a photographer. For that reason I intend to donate a session to a patient with cancer or oncology HCW for every 10 sessions that I book. Unfortunately, everyone knows someone dealing with cancer. Please nominate them for a photo session. It's super easy and requires minimal effort from the nominator!
